Welcome to the Ho-Lee Noodle House, where the Chinese food is to die for. . .
The last place Lana Lee thought she would ever end up is back at her family’s restaurant. But after a brutal break-up and a dramatic workplace walk-out, she figures that a return to the Cleveland area to help wait tables is her best option for putting her life back together. Even if that means having to put up with her mother, who is dead-set on finding her a husband.
Lana’s love life soon becomes yesterday’s news once the restaurant’s property manager, Mr. Feng, turns up dead―after a delivery of shrimp dumplings from Ho-Lee. But how could this have happened when everyone on staff knew about Mr. Feng’s severe, life-threatening shellfish allergy? Now, with the whole restaurant under suspicion for murder and the local media in a feeding frenzy―to say nothing of the gorgeous police detective who keeps turning up for take-out―it’s up to Lana to find out who is behind Feng’s killer order. . . before her own number is up.

|I chose to pick up this book because of the cover and the title. Both immediately grabbed my attention. I was intrigued because I’d never read a cozy based around a noodle shop. I’m so glad I decided to give this book a chance!
First of all, the characters in this book are amazing. The main character Lana is so likable. I also really liked her best friend Megan. Megan isn’t afraid to say things that Lana needs to hear and she is there to back Lana up and help her when Lana starts investigating the murder. I also loved Lana’s furry companion, Kikko.
I really liked the idea behind the Asia Village. All of the shops sound really interesting and I love how they’ve created a little community together. Ho-Lee Noodle house was my favorite shop of all of them though. I mean, yummy Asian food? Yes, please! Reading this book had me so hungry at times. I’m craving some good noodles right now.
The mystery was very well written. There were plenty of suspects to choose from and I kept bouncing back and forth between who I thought the killer was. As the suspense started to build toward the end of the book, I could feel my heart racing in anticipation and I flew through the rest of the book so I could find out who it was. The killer is not who I thought it would be, so that took me by surprise.
My favorite thing about this book is that the main character actually did some sleuthing! Lana actually did quite a bit of sleuthing and it thrilled me to death! I have read a lot of cozies lately where the main focus of the story is a romance and the main character doesn’t investigate hardly at all. There is a hint of a possible future romance/relationship in this story, but I’m so thankful that it wasn’t the main focus of the story and didn’t take away from the mystery and investigating.
I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in this series! I anticipate this series being one of my favorite cozy mystery series.
